Automatic and manual driving lessons

As William Shakespeare once definitely said: “Automatic or manual? That is the question.”

With automatic becoming increasingly popular due to its accessibility and simplicity, it’s something to really consider before you book your driving lessons. And with all new cars sold beyond 2030 set to be automatic, there’s never been a better time to choose automatic driving lessons. We’re always adding areas we cover for automatic.

Refresher driving lessons

From beginners and nervous pupils to more mature pupils, we’ve got two decades of experience teaching every type of learner there is.

Many of us pass our driving test and use our cars daily for commuting, shopping or pleasure. But for some people, passing their driving test was a while ago and they now have a requirement to drive, perhaps for work or a change in personal circumstances.

  • In need of a confidence boost having not driven for a while?
  • Been involved in a road traffic accident?
  • Recently moved to a new area and want to go over the roads with a driving instructor?
  • Feeling generally rusty with your driving?
  • Confused about a particular aspect of driving, eg roundabouts?
  • Want some tips on driving more efficiently?
  • Just want to improve your driving skills?

Refresher driving lessons could well be for you.

There’s always room to learn and improve in everything that we do in life. Driving more efficiently you can reduce the wear and tear on your vehicle which ultimately will reduce costs in the long-run. On the other hand, poor driving will mean shelling out more in fuel and can lead to damaging your engine, clutch, gears or even your tyres.

When your driving skills become a little sloppy you can easily lose confidence on the road. Refresher driving lessons can help minimise the risk of a collision through boosting confidence and safety on the road. Our expert team of instructors will cater each refresher driving lesson to suit your individual needs.

Did somebody say Refreshers?

Pass Plus

You might have heard about Pass Plus from your friends – this is the one everyone says can ‘save you money on your car insurance’.

While that is true in most cases, the benefits of taking a Pass Plus course go way beyond immediate financial gain.

These courses, for people who have already passed their practical test, are usually around 6 hours long (including at least 5.5 hours of practical based learning). It’s designed to increase road confidence and help develop a wide range of skills. You’ll be required to reach a specific standard across a range of six modules to gain a Pass Plus certificate. These include practical experience on rural roads, dual carriageways and motorways. You’ll also get the opportunity to pick up expert advice from your instructor along the way.

Some material may need to be theory-based depending on local conditions. At the end of your course your instructor will provide you with a signed training report which needs to be sent to the DVLA to receive your shiny new Pass Plus certificate. Advanced driving courses like this are a great way of helping you save money on your car insurance, which is notoriously very high for young drivers.

It’s likely that you’ll be able to keep the same driving instructor that helped you pass your driving test in the first place. Ask your instructor for more information.

Intensive driving lessons

You may have heard these referred to as ‘crash courses’, but we don’t teach you to crash. That would be silly.

While intensive driving courses are taken over a much quicker time period, we will ensure that all the regular material needed to gain a full UK driving licence has been covered.

We know that everybody learns differently – and pupils who opt for intensive driving lessons usually prefer to learn in a fast paced manner. It’s also possible that you may need to attain your licence quicker for work or a change in personal circumstances. Your instructor will create your own intensive learning plan and support you on your journey through your driving lessons. We’ll ensure that you’ll get all the knowledge and practical experience you’ll need regardless of your skill level, and support in you each step of your progression to gaining your driving licence.

Intensive driving courses are subject to availability.
